The front desk clerk was rude and talked down to my husband like he was a child. What a sweet gesture, right? Unfortunately our stay was miserable. My husband brought me on his overnight work trip to Spokane so we could spend my birthday weekend together - and he purposefully booked this hotel because it’s marketed as among the nicest in town. Meanwhile, the original check-in clerk said she “upgraded” us based on my husband’s Marriott rewards status - but if that’s the case, I’d hate to see a normal King room! The furniture was uncomfortable, and the pillows were so flat I could literally roll each. That would have been nice for us (and all other guests) to know upon arrival. The evening clerk told us every spot in the garage was fair game - as if it was an obvious fact every guest should know. I don’t subscribe to the belief that the customer is always right - but HOW is it possibly the customer’s fault for prepaying for a service that the hotel offers as available? We ended up parking in the self-park garage across the street and finally thought to ask late that night if we could just park in the valet parking at the bottom that was going unused. He had prepaid online for valet parking, and when the clerk said that it wasn’t actually available, she blamed HIM for prepaying.
